Organize The Chaos: Why I DECKED My Truck
I first heard about DECKED a couple years ago and thought they had some great products. While I felt that getting a Drawer System could help organize my truckbed, I was hesitant to pull the trigger and get one. I used to keep a large black and yellow bin, or two, in the back of my truck, storing whatever tools I may need for everyday use, an emergency situation, or whatever gear I might need at the ranch while working or hunting, depending on the season. While it was a decent storage system, I'd still have to dig through this big tub to find a ratchet strap, rope, handsaws, or whatever I needed that day...and half the time I've forgetten what was in there. Slowly but surely, over the months, things would just accumulate and the bed became a bit chaotic. It was organized chaos. I love having a truck, and I enjoy having a camper shell to protect my gear from the elements, but I definitely got tired of having to jump in the back of the truck to find what I needed, or when packing/unpacking up for trips. I would inevitably hit my head on the camper shell, causing my bald head to bleed, leaving a strange mark or bruise for a good week or so. This has happened more times than I care to admit. Eventually I decide it was time to better organize things in my truckbed, get some proper systems in place that would help out with my storage needs, and keep my head scar-free, to the best of my ability.
At the tail end of 2025, I finally made the decision to order DECKED Drawer System. About a week later, after returning from the ranch with my family, we turned the corner onto our street and saw the golden rays illuminating down onto the large cardboard box, sitting on a pallet in our driveway. My hopes & prayers were answered. I would now have the ultimate organizational/storage system in place and I would not cut my head on my camper shell anymore (except for that one time whilst installing it...one more for the road!)
After installing the Drawer System, I knew I'd never had a truck without a DECKED system ever again. I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant at first and worried about the space I might have "lost." That might be a common thought for anyone considering this move. But, lets face facts - the tall stuff I couldn't move anymore since I "lost" 12 inches wasn't really going to bother me. My camper shell could only fit certain sized cargo, anyhow. Tall items are much easier to load onto a trailer, and for everything we would need to load (feed, heavy farm and ranch equipment), we could still manage, while now having a secured spot to organize the smaller stuff, underneath. It wasn't really going to make much of a difference. It was a great addition and my needless worries were just that - needless.
After I installed the Drawer System, I took some measurements and looked up the spec sheet on the CargoGlide. I wanted to make sure I could still fit all my coolers in the truckbed, without having to take off the camper shell. Accordingly to all the calculations, I would be fine. With that checked off the list, I put in the order for the CargoGlide to be installed on top of my Drawer System.

Let me tell you what.....these systems have completely changed how I use and operate my truck(bed)—on the ranch, on roadtrips, in the field, and during day to day activities with my family.
The dual Drawer System setup gives me organized, secure storage for everything I need to carry. On top of that, the CargoGlide allows me to access everything without ever climbing into the truck bed. That accessibility, alone, is a game changer.
The CargoGlide pulls out smoothly and locks into multiple positions, making it easy to work with and maneuver around. Whether I’m loading gear or grabbing something quickly, everything is easily within reach. The only time I noticed a slight challenge was when my buddy Matthew Mitchell and I were loading up our (very full) wildgame coolers after a successful, long weekend of hunting. We had to load the coolers on top of the CargoGlide, which is installed on top of the Drawer System. So, it was a bit higher of a lift than before DECKED came into my life. I mean, we both have Super-Herculean strength, so we could manage to lift it 15" higher than the season before DECKED. No biggie.
Inside the drawers, you can take organization even further. They can be customized with dividers and Puzzle Foam, or grab some D-CO Cases, to fit your exact needs. With the D-Co Cases, you can open them while in the drawers with the push of a button, or lift up the larger handle and take them with you on the go. For me, that means lockable and secure rifle storage, organized gear, ammo, and zero wasted time digging around to find what I need. More Winning!

Security and weather protection are just as important as the organizational abilities. The system is weatherproof and everything stays fully protected, whether you are running a camper shell like me, or exposed to the elements. Drawer locks are available and the peace of mind of having a lockable drawer system is extremely valuable, especially when you’re traveling and stopping along the way.
One concern I had early on was regarding payload capacity. I use my truck hard—hauling feed, equipment, and heavy loads. I wasn't sure if I would still be able to put a lot of weight on the Drawer System, or CargoGlide. That concern didn’t last long.
The DECKED system handles the weight without issue. You’re not sacrificing capability—you’re gaining efficiency. Definitely check to make sure your payloads will still work on top of the Drawer System or CargoGlide, or the combo of the two....but let's face it - if you are looking to load an M1 Mini-Abrams Tank, or 6,000 lbs of cinderblocks (looking at you, Allan), you are using a trailer for that, anyways. For the most part, all the big stuff you hauled in your truck bed will be handled just fine on the Drawer System, CargoGlide, or the combo.
While I don't own their new Tool Box, I have seen some incredible reviews. It is lightweight, stronger than steel, easier to operate and also works seamlessly with D-CO Cases. If for some reason the Drawer System and/or CargoGlide won't fit your needs, the Tool Box is worth a look. And if you already have something else (I won't shame you...much), the D-CO Cases are still worth getting, alone.
DECKED has built more than just a series of superior products - they’ve built a culture around them. From their videos to their customer service, there’s a level of personality and attention to detail that stands out. Their install videos are the most fun and humorous I've ever seen. They will definitely make you smile and laugh. My kind of folks!
When I needed a small replacement part during install (my desk is messy and I lost it....don't judge), it was handled quickly and professionally. Real people. Real support. Real Results. Really Quick. That kind of thing matters these days.

At the end of the day, these systems aren't just for hunters and outdoors men and women. They are for anyone who values organization, efficiency, and reliability - from first responders to tradesmen, hunters and anglers to overlanders, weekend warriors to soccer moms and dads, and for everyday truck owners.
For me, it’s simple: I won’t own another truck without a DECKED System in it. Once you even look at a DECKED System in person, you will feel the same. So, be ready when you check em out - you're probably gonna buy one. Can't say I didn't warn you!
On a serious note - if you’re considering one, take the time to explore the options, look at different builds, visit their website and YouTube page, and give them a call to talk with their team about what System(s) will be best for your vehicle! If they happen to ask, tell them the Son of a Blitch sent ya! :)
PS - In case you didn't know, all the DECKED Systems are proudly Made in the USA!

Episode Description
If you use your pickup for hunting, farming and ranching, fishing, construction, daily work, travel, overlanding, or just hauling around friends and family on your next adventure, you already know the problem: the truck bed becomes a rolling pile of gear. Tools slide, straps vanish, and the one item you need ends up buried at the back of the cab. Truck bed storage and truck bed organization aren’t just about being neat, they save time, reduce damaged equipment, and make every trip less stressful.
In this conversation, George Blitch sits down with Casey Hawkes, the Community Marketing Manager with DECKED, and they dig in to how DECKED approaches that problem with purpose built truck bed storage systems designed for daily use - and harsh weather - while handling some serious payloads.
DECKED starts with a simple idea: take the homemade plywood drawer concept people build for pickups and engineer it into a durable, repeatable solution. Built from HDPE plastic, the DECKED Drawer System is designed to handle abuse, resist moisture, and keep gear secure. The origin story is classic American product development: a sketch on a napkin, a few years of refining, and a launch that grew from a small barn operation into a major manufacturing footprint in Defiance, Ohio. “Made in the USA” isn’t a slogan here, it’s tied directly to quality control, supply reliability, and a brand that is proud of its factory and process.
Once the drawers solve the “where did my stuff go” problem, access becomes the next bottleneck. That’s where CargoGlide comes in: a sliding tray that pulls your load out to you, so you don’t crawl into the bed or climb over gear. For many truck owners, especially with toppers or camper shells, that back saving access is the real game changer. The system can be used as a stand-alone sliding tray or paired with drawers, and different sizes match different needs, from half width to full bed. Add DECKED D-CO Cases and dividers, and you get modular storage that can move from garage to truck to jobsite without turning into chaos.
Durability only matters if it holds up in the real world, so weatherproof truck bed storage is a major theme. The drawers are built to shed rain, snow, sleet, and even car wash blasts, protecting tools, recovery gear, and hunting equipment. Lockable storage also matters, especially for firearms, bows, and expensive optics. You can configure foam, cases, and locking options to keep sensitive gear organized and protected. For outdoor travel, hunting trips, and everyday errands, that means fewer worries when you stop for gas or leave the truck unattended.
Payload capacity is one of the first questions buyers ask about. For full size systems, the top deck supports up to 2,000 pounds with 200 pounds per drawer, while mid-size options support 1,000 pounds on top with a larger drawer rated to 400 pounds. CargoGlide payloads range from about 600 pounds on half width trays up to roughly 2,200 pounds depending on bed length and model.
Their all-new DECKED Tool Box is another incredible storage option. It is lighter than aluminum, stronger than steel, and is your next ding-free, rust-free, weatherproof cure for the common toolbox.
The bigger takeaway is confidence: you can still haul heavy loads like ATVs, feed, tools, and job materials while gaining secure organization underneath. Wrap it all in strong customer service, clear install videos, and a brand voice that stays human, and you get a truck storage solution that feels less like an accessory and more like a permanent upgrade.
