My full name is George Bowe Blitch, and let's face it...I've been a "Son of a Blitch" my entire life!

I'm a fifth generation Texan, living here with the love of my life, Meg Blitch, and our two amazing daughters. Most people know that I'm an energetic guy that enjoys being involved in a variety of projects. I figured this might be a good place to centralize and share them.

I've worked in a variety of professions over the years...I've been a Wildlife Manager, 5th Generation Texas Rancher, Hunting Guide, Publisher (HYT Publishing), Writer, Editor, Multimedia Manager, Videographer, Photographer, Designer, Cartographer (with American Made Maps & Map My Ranch), Professional Touring Musician, Teacher, Soccer Coach, worked in Finance, and the Host of the "Son of a Blitch" Podcast.

My father and I co-own Blitch Associates, Inc., a financial advisory firm specializing in public finance in Houston, TX. I've entering my 21st year in the industry and I am blessed to work alongside my dad, everyday.  I currently co-own American Made Maps &  Map My Ranch with one of best friends, Colin Williams. AMM & MMR are mapping companies specializing in producing custom printed (& digital) aerial maps. While I still own and operate the publishing company, HYT Publishing, I paused on new projects for a handful of years, after the passing of my good friend and business partner, Harvey Arden - former National Geographic writer/editor of 23 years, and best selling author. I still enjoy writing and publishing, and I've had a handful of articles that were well received in the outdoor industry, which really furthered my desire for writing and producing books, again. I have one book that is gradually in the works right now about Bob Lemmons (1848-1947). He was born into slavery, but later emerged as one of the most famous Black Cowboys of Texas, aka the "Most Original Mustanger" and "The Horse Whisperer," as he would single handedly round up countless Wild Mustangs in the Wild Horse Deserts of TX, before barbed wire spiderwebbed the lands. He is truly a Texas Legend. Our families would become close friends, ranching together and living side by side, in South Texas. In the last decade of his life, as his eyesight continued to fail, Bob lived alongside our family, with a guide wire that was attached from my great grandparents house to a guest house our family built for him, so he could easily make his way over. He would spend countless hours retelling his legendary stories, and my family recorded and passed many of those down! I look forward to sharing these with everyone, soon. Click here to learn more about Bob Lemmons.

My interview with Jack Carr (The Terminal List: Dark Wolf & Cry Havoc) - EP. 108

In our recent conversation, Jack Carr provided fascinating insights into the upcoming prequel series "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf" and his ninth novel "Cry Havoc," both of which deepen the rich storytelling world he's created. "Dark Wolf," premiering August 27th on Amazon Prime, explores the origin story of Ben Edwards, the complex character brilliantly portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in the original Terminal List series.

As Carr explained, this prequel was born from the unexpected depth Kitsch brought to the role, elevating the character beyond how he was written in the books. The series begins in Mosul, Iraq in 2015, following Edwards as a Navy SEAL whose journey eventually leads him into the shadowy world of CIA operations.

What makes this series particularly special is the exceptional team assembled both in front of and behind the camera. Carr emphasized the family-like atmosphere created by Chris Pratt, director Antoine Fuqua, and showrunner David DiGilio. This collaborative spirit has attracted talented professionals who genuinely want to bring their best to the project.

American Made Maps & Map My Ranch

AMERICAN MADE MAPS is co-owned by George Blitch & Colin Williams, who have been close friends since childhood and creating custom maps together for over 20 years. They started that journey after they made a map of George's family ranch and three of their friends saw it and said, "you should map my ranch." The light bulb went off and George & Colin decided to start a company called, "Map My Ranch", to create the best customizable, printed ranch maps available. Before long, they were making maps for clients across every state in the US, and beyond, becoming the leaders in printed maps of all types. Over time, they felt the name might potentially limit their audience.

While Map My Ranch will continue on, George & Colin decided they wanted to create a new brand name, AMERICAN MADE MAPS, that would better represent the scope of the various projects they produce maps for: Ranches, Farms, Hunting Leases, Lakes, Rivers, Coastal Areas, Public Lands, State & National Parks, Commercial Developments, Vineyards, Golf Courses, Sports Complexes, Ski Resorts, Municipalities & More

w/ The AMERICAN MADE MAPS Promise:
  • Produce the Best Printed (& Digital) Maps in the USA
  • Acquire the Newest & Best Quality Imagery Available
  • Forge the Best Partnerships, to Deliver The Best Products
  • Create & Promote Jobs Across America

We have also developed Partnerships with Doug Duren's "Sharing The Land" initiative and with the onX Hunt app, the #1 hunting app in the world! All our American Made Maps & Map My Ranch customers will receive a 3 month "Elite Membership" with their map purchase!

HYT Publishing

In 2004, I started a publishing company, HYT Publishing, with my good friend and mentor, former National Geographic writer, Harvey Arden. Sadly, Harvey passed away in 2018. During our time together, we published 3 books and 2 Spoken Word CDs. We began working on our first  book “Have You Thought of Leonard Peltier Lately?” as a follow up to a book Harvey edited by Leonard Peltier called "Prison Writings: My Life Is My Sun Dance" in 1999. Our second book, White Buffalo Teachings, is about the Lakota people and their traditions/history, which Harvey co-wrote with Chief Arvol Looking Horse, the 19th generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe. Our third book, by a Seneca Elder named Edna Gordon, is a collection of Life Messages and Poetry, called "Voice of the Hawk Elder". It won the USA Best Books Award in the Native American Studies category. We also have 2 spoken word CDs -  "Noble Red Man" and "My Life Is My Sundance" - both of which were nominated for a total of 5 Native American Music Awards at the 2011 NAMMYS. "My Life Is My Sun Dance" ended up winning the "Best Spoken Word" Award that year! Harvey also won a NAMMY for the Wisdomkeepers Radio CD, which we helped to get on the ballot.

Our website features a preview of the books and CDs, if you'd like to check them out: www.HaveYouThought.com

Son of a Blitch Productions

Essentially, all my "projects" or businesses fall under the umbrella of SOB Productions, which has officially been in existence since 2001. It started out around my video production work, but later grew into various forms of Multimedia Development. In the fall of 2001, I became a co-owner of company that recorded the stories, histories and messages of Indigenous Elders, from all around the world. We then made interactive websites that we called LivingBooks, for all the Elders and correspondents around the globe. I would record and edit all the video and audio interviews and events, helped to develop the software we built for the platform, and designed and managed the websites, for the most part. My mentor and great friend, Harvey Arden, had worked for National Geographic for 25 years as a writer and editor, and also wrote many best selling books. We worked together on dozens of projects, and I learned a great deal in the process. Around the same time, I was one of the lead videographers and editors with the television show, "Texas Live", in the early 2000's. I would shoot a variety of events (world class chefs cooking their favorite meals,  live events (Cirque du Soleil, concerts, festivals, movie premieres, etc.) and then edit 2-8 minute segments for the bi-monthly show. I met some amazing folks in the process, and got hired by a few firms to create commercials (MTV) and marketing videos for various brands.

Eventually, I started to build websites for some of my own clients, and also worked on back end (Intranet) software development with a well known real estate firm in NYC. That led me to working on a great deal of graphic design work, where I would create product packaging design, book layouts and design, logos, websites and more. I currently still work in all these mediums, but the podcast and writing has been the focus, along with content creation for my various projects, and of course, the full time job! :)

I did have the honor of building Jim Shockey's website for his latest book, "Call Me Hunter" shortly after he was a guest on my podcast. Check out CallMeHunter.com to learn more about the book, and also check out the podcast we did together for a deeper dive into his phenomenal book!

Event Promotion, Hosting  & Public Speaking

I have been hosting events ever since I got a gig as a booking agent at a well known Houston music venue in 1994, where many of your favorite rock bands likely performed, at the young age of 15. I cold called the owner of the Abyss and pitched him with the idea of booking local up and coming musical acts (including my own band at the time, HollowPoint), on one of his slow nights. He gave me a Wednesday and I booked 4 bands that drew some great numbers. He told me he was moving me to a more popular night, on Thursdays, and eventually I was filling opening slots for national acts on the weekends. If was one of those weekend nights that I finally met the club owner, and he laughed and said, "if I knew you were just a kid, I would never said yes to all this! Glad we never met before now!"

I arrive at Northeastern University, in Boston MA in 1997. Shortly after, my closest friend and bandmate, Allan Lewis, began hosting a series of events in and around Boston called "Local Artists Doin' Their Thang" - which consisted of various artists convening at a location, to promote, share, and combine their artistic abilities for the enjoyment of all. Paintings and pictures would line the walls, sculptures and intermedia artist displays would fill the shelves and top the tables, and the nights would usually begin with solo performers and end with some of the best college bands in Boston. There would also be some amazing food and drinks. I would Host and MC the monthly events and perform with various acts during the 4 year run of shows I produced during my time in the Boston area.

After graduating in 2001, I began working with my dear friends and mentor, Harvey Arden, a best selling author and former National Geographic Staff Writer and Editor of 25 years. One of my first assignments as the MultiMedia Director in his company, was to help with a collegiate tour on the East Coast to promote the first publishing of White Buffalo Teachings, written by the Keeper of the 19th Generation White Buffalo Calf Pipe, Chief Arvol Looking Horse. Harvey and Arvol would speak and do some readings form the book, and then we would host a book signing and meet and greet, after. We produced the first ever International Live Streaming Book Tour Event when we kicked off the tour at Harvard University. Mind you, that can be accomplished with your phone now, but it was a tad more complicated back then!

One of my jobs was to help record our conversations with Indigenous Elders from all around the world. I handled the video and audio recording, scheduled events and eventually, I would grab the torch from Harvey, and begin interviewing the Elders, myself.
Harvey and I decided to start a publishing company in 2004, and many book tours and live events ensued. Around that time my band began to travel across the US, and I became more and more comfortable being in front of thousands of people, in both settings.

Over the last 30+ years I have been a part of many events as a host, producer, performer, and public speaker, at a variety of seminars, conventions, book signings, movie premieres, musical tours, and more. Some appearances include the: National Geographic HQ (Washington DC), Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), Northeastern University (Boston, MA), AWBD Conferences (San Antonio, Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin), SXSW (Austin, TX), Pine Ridge Reservation (South Dakota), Winter Music Conference (Miami, FL), Shrine Exposition Center (Los Angeles, CA), BayFest Musical Festival (Mobile, AL), Hampshire College (Amherst, MA), Murder By The Book (Houston, TX), and many more.

*I will be working with the Houston Safari Club, leading up to and during their annual convention that takes place Jan 23-25, 2026. I will be conducting a series of interviews, live podcasts, and bringing you to the floor of one of the most memorable events in the outdoor world. The first interview dropped on July 23, 2025 with Joe Betar, the Executive Director of the HCSF, and monthly interviews have followed leading up to the convention! Hope to see you there! If you can't make it, at least make sure to follow my socials as I take you behind the scenes to all the can't miss events, galas, fundraisers, the top exhibitors, and more!

If you or your organization is ever looking for a Host or MC for your upcoming event, please let me know! I love being a part of live events, convention, seminars, book tours, and more.
